Thank you for visiting the website.

Southwark Park is an English Heritage Grade Two Listed amenity, and one of London’s oldest parks. First opened to the public in 1869, the park has always been a most important place for the people of Bermondsey and Rotherhithe to enjoy. Nowadays it also attracts many visitors from outside Southwark.

King’s Stairs Gardens is a Field in Trust. Originally conceived as an extension to Southwark Park during the Second World War, the park was slowly developed in stages, before completion in 1982. Today it is an attractive urban haven located between the ever busy Jamaica Road and the majestic River Thames.

Southwark Park Association 1869 has established this website to promote and provide information about both parks. There was a special focus on Southwark Park during 2019 to celebrate the 150th anniversary of its opening to the public on 19th June 1869.
